My view on the Lahore High Court’s decision relating to runoff polling for election of Chief Minister Punjab. I strongly support the 4:1 decision, for reasons as explicated.
Pls note: The Supreme Court today ordered that the run off polling for the Punjab chief minister’s post will be held on July 22 and not today as per the orders of the Lahore High Court, after the parties came to an agreement amongst themselves.

Congratulations to People’s Party on winning first phase of local bodies;
But in my mind they remain villians, villians who have destroyed my beloved Sindh.

Three Conclusions on NAB Amendments:
1) Majority of amendments are same as had been introduced through an ordinance by the PTI government;
2) Some applaudable amendments exist, for example the shortening of the remand period from 90 to 14 days but;
3) Some amendments are regressive in nature and introduced to give special treatment to blue eyed boys, e.g. matters which have been decided by, or fall within the jurisdiction of a regulatory body established under a Federal or Provincial law have been taken out of NAB’s jurisdiction with retrospective effect.

Advice and Decision on Presidential Reference and connected Petition

1. With full deference and due respect, I do not agree with the majority opinion, which I believe is a rewriting of the Constitution through a political interpretation. Nevertheless, the decision of the Supreme Court must be implemented in letter and spirit.
2. It is not only an advice, but also a decision binding on all executive and judicial authorities as the decision was not only pronounced under Article 186 but also the powers vested under Article 184(3) of the Constitution.
3. As such, Hamza’s Punjab cabinet is on stilts at the moment and the days are numbered. Shahbaz’s federal cabinet, since it did not require votes of any dissident MNAs remains constitutionally entrenched, unless the numbers in Parliament change.

PTI Appeal to Supreme Court on disqualification of dissident members is meritless, for the following major reasons

1) Althought abstention can lead to disqualification, a party directive is necessary. Here the party directive itself was to abstain, and the dissidents never voted like the rest of PTI, hence no disqualification can be declared.
2) The PTI issued notices through GS Asad Umar, rather than the party head as is required by Article 63-A. Such show cause notice is worthless in my opinion since the constitutionally designated person did not in fact issue them.
Hence, it is now time again for PTI to curse the institutions because of its own stupidity
